I’m thrilled to be returning as the Musical Director of Toronto’s Zimriyah – The Jewish Children’s Choral Festival of Toronto, which is taking place Sunday, March 15, 2015 at Adath Israel Congregation. This will be my seventh time leading the event. Over 500 children from 14 of Toronto’s Jewish day schools and supplementary schools take part every year. It’s such a large endeavour that we have to split the event and offer a show in the morning and another one in the afternoon.

Each school gets to perform by themselves, sharing their uniqueness and talent with the rest of the community. At the start and at the end of the performance, all the children gather together on stage for an ensemble piece which I conduct. This way, every school can be given the chance to shine, every school can listen to the richness and creativity of their peers, and every student can put aside their competitive edge to sing together in a spirit of unity, harmony, and celebration.

The Zimriyah is presented by The Julia and Henry Koschitzky Centre for Jewish Education, UJA Federation’s educational centre.
