TALLIT

How to put on a tallit and how to recite the blessing.

Please note that there are various traditions as to how put on a tallit.

First Step: Hold the Tallit

Hold your tallit with both hands in front of your face. You should be looking at the back of the tallit.

Second Step: Blessing

Recite the following blessing:

Baruch Ata Adonai,
Eloheinu Melech ha’olam,
asher kidshanu b’mitzvotav
v’tzivanu
lehitatef ba’tzitzit

(Sephardim say, “be’tzitzit“.)

Third Step: Putting on the Tallit

Wrap the tallit around your back and over your shoulders.

Kiss the tallit.

While I say “Ba’tzitzit” in this instructional video, as a Sephardi, when I put on the tallit, my tradition is to say, “Be’tzitzit”.
