Beth Tikvah Synagogue's music committee, MUSICA BETH TIKVAH, seeks to present musical activities which meet the highest standards. The committee is made up of volunteers pooled from Beth Tikvah Synagogue's membership.

Artistic direction for MUSICA is provided by Musical Director Eyal Bitton and Cantor Tibor Kovari.

They continue in the rich tradition begun by renowned composer Srul Irving Glick .

A native of Cluj, Romania, Cantor Kovari came to Beth Tikvah from Beth Israel in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he served as cantor, teacher, and youth leader. He served as acting Rabbi and Cantor in Budapest, Bucharest, for the Hungarian Armed Forces, and the Pava Street Synagogue. After accepting the position of the Coral Temple in Bucharest, Tibor was appointed Chief Cantor and Director of Jewish Education of Romania.

Tibor has initiated several new youth and young adult choirs as well as a shul band. He continues to sing regularly in concerts, in services, and as cantorial soloist with the Beth Tikvah Choir.

As Music Director of Beth Tikvah Synagogue, Eyal develops the music season in conjunction with Cantor Kovari and the Musica committee, conducts the Beth Tikvah choirs and arranges and composes much of the synagogue's new music.

He has composed several musicals and oratorios: Miss Persia The Musical, Moses The Musical, King David The Musical, Journey to Jerusalem, Freedom, and The Child.
